After a tough victory in the opener against Puerto Rico (3-2), the Brazilian team made their second game on
Saturday at the Pan American Games in front of the Peruvian team.
Like in the match against the Puerto Rican, Brazil did not start well. Zé Roberto's team, who still seeks the perfect harmony, serve badly and gave many points on errors to his opponent. Meanwhile, the Peruvian found no difficulty putting the ball in the Brazilian court. And with an opponent block, Brazil saw the Peruvian close the set in 27 X 25.
In the second set, Brazil came with different attitude. Serve, block, defense, everything worked and this made Peru stay with one point untill the second technical timeout. With this scenario Brazil had no trouble closing the set in stunning 25 x 5.
Brazil maintained the superiority and had no trouble in closing the following sets 25 x 17 and 25 x 16.
Fe Garay was the top scorer for Brazil with 17 points, followed by Joycinha with 12.
On the Peruvian side Angela Leyva scored 15 times.
Brazil back to court on Monday at 21:05h (local time) to face the United States, game that define the first place of the group and a place in the semifinals, the looser will have to play in the quarterfinals.
